Saqqara used to be a cemetery that has been maintained for more than 3,000 years, and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
"Initial research shows that these coffins are completely closed and have not been opened since burial," the Ministry of Antiquities Egypt said in a statement on 19/9.
Excavations continue as experts want to learn more about the origins of the coffins. Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities hopes to reveal "more secrets" at a press conference in the coming days. Other relics discovered around the coffin are also decorated in many colors and elaborate.
